The Copper Network Is Coming to an End.

The traditional copper telephone network that has been used for decades is gradually being phased out across Europe. This change affects users of fixed telephone lines and older broadband services that rely on copper wiring. At Doro, we want to keep you informed and supported throughout these technology changes.

We would also like to let you know that the shutdown of the copper network is not something Doro can control. This process is managed individually by each service provider, so the timing and details may vary depending on your provider and location.

FAQs

Why is the copper network being shut down?

Technology is evolving, and copper networks are no longer the most efficient way to deliver telephone and internet services. They’re being replaced by modern solutions like fiber optics and digital phone services, which offer better speed, reliability, and performance.

What does this mean for you?

At some point, your fixed telephone line will no longer function via the copper network. Some service providers have already started transitioning customers to new solutions. This could involve:

  • Switching your phone line to fiber
  • Providing a new digital-compatible phone
  • Simply notifying you of the upcoming change

The exact solution and timing will vary depending on your country and provider.

What should you do?

We recommend that you contact your provider directly to understand what steps they are taking and how you might be affected. They can inform you about the options available and guide you through any necessary upgrades.

We’re here to keep you informed about our products and what they require to function, but your provider is best placed to help with the next steps and further information.

Important to know:

While the complete shutdown of the copper network is, in some countries, planned for 2030. Disconnections may begin earlier depending on your country, or even region and provider. Doro cannot guarantee that your line will work until 2030.
